An Amnesty Redux Redux

In·san·i·ty n. (pl. In·san·i·ties): Doing the Same 1987 Thing Over and Over Again Expecting Different Results

Elephants apparently always forget.

What we have on unhindered display with the Judiciary frivolity that is the "guest worker" program are all of the denigrative images one has when one contemplates the august Senatorial body: aged, detached, self-contained, self-consumed and willfully unconcerned with the will of the people.

The fact that nearly 90% of the citizenry these elected officials ostensibly represent yet find so distasteful wants to solely and securely close the borders, bereft of any additional legislative amnesty wishful thinking, is deemed to be irrelevant, indeed highly irrelevant, by the old men in the nice suits.

Border control is not unlike gun control; passing additional laws aimed at curtailing the actions of a group of people exhibiting themselves to be disdainful of the ones already on  the books is quite simply asinine.

It is simply a wink and a nod between the Senators and the invading masses, with the former's hopes that the latter remembers who took care of them the next time they illegally head for the polls.

If someone is going to risk twenty years to life to rob a bank, they are not going to register the firearm utilized in the heist prior to so doing.

Likewise, who thinks any one of the 11-20 (plus?) million aliens here illegally is suddenly going to walk in off the street and sign up for a $2,000 fine, a heap of accrued back taxes and an eleven year wait for citizenship?

A sojourn during which he must return home after the elapse of four annums, thereby forsaking the job he already illicitly has, and apply for reentry, for the ongoing prospective privelege.

What color is the sky in the Senate?

Of course, most of these people did not come here to become Americans, they came here to gain American access. To jobs, to welfare, to free medicine, to better schools for their children (for which they also do not pay). The reward of citizenship is not a large enough carrot to entice these people to put the legal cart before the presence horse, with or without the passage of this legislative inanity.

A simple application of the existing canon would be more than sufficient to address the issue, which is in actuality the last thing these legislators wish to do. They know that the criminals in question know that no one expects anyone to adhere to these new immigration edicts.

Better from the Senate's perspective to act busy, rather than get busy. And then hopefully get reelected.

That the supposed law and order Republicans run the show and have delivered us this quacking waterfowl is but and yet a new low in the conservative Elephantary devolution.

And it is, of course, pathetic on stilts.
