Preemptive Congratulations, Governor |
Texas Comptroller of Public Miscounts Carole Keeton Strayhorn trails her incumbent opponent in a recent
Scripps Howard Texas poll by the merest, slimmest of more than two to one brims.
If held today, the Elephantary tally would have his Incumbency narrowly pulling it out 55%-24%. It shows the Governor's lead actually widening, from 18%-31%, since the last conducted balloted sampling, AFTER and incorporating the results of a $1 million Madame Comptroller radio advertisement blitz.
We here have often expressed our general disdain for polls (as they can be verily slanted), but this is the exception that proves the rule in two ways. First, the uncloseness of the totals lands us also well outside the Media margin of error. And second, the Press' statistical inference here would be to the challenger, as they have as One great disdain for the man who currently holds the office; if anything, the actual enumeration may not be as proximate as this.
Whew, that was a close one. (Oh, wait, it is not March yet, is it. Well then, reice the champagne and rebox the "We Are the Primary Champions" t-shirts. And someone push Stop on the Queen CD.)
